Setup SocialScreen with Raspberry Pi 4/5 Model B

Installing the software.

  1. Download and install Raspberry Pi Imager on your PC if you havent already.
  2. Download the SocialScreen-kiosk image and connect the SD Card to your PC.
  3. Launch the Raspberry Pi Imager software.

  1. Click Choose Device and select Raspberry Pi Model.

  1. Click Choose OS then select Custom and select the downloaded SocialScreen-kiosk image.
  2. Click Choose Storage and pick the SD Card from the menu. Then, proceed by clicking Next.

  1. When prompted about OS customization settings, select No.

If you wish to specify the time zone, wireless network, etc., this can be done under Edit Settings. Remember to save the changes and select YES under OS Customisation Settings.

  1. Click on Write and confirm by selecting Yes when a warning pops up.

  1. Wait for the image to be written and verified. This process may take some time.

  1. Once completed, you receive a notification indicating that the SD Card is now ready.
    Safely disconnect the SD card from your PC and insert it into the Raspberry Pi.
    You can now boot it and start the process of connecting the device to your account.
    Connect your Raspberry Pi to the internet when prompted.


The following takes place on PC:

  • Log in to the system by typing https://app.socialscreen.com in your browser and log in.
  • When logged in to the system, you will have a menu on the left side with an option called Devices. Click on this. In the top right corner, click Add new device.
    Enter the code displayed on your screen, give the screen a name, and remember to save device.
  • You can now create a Playlist with the desired content from the Slides option
    (if you need help with this, there is a “Product presentation” video at the bottom of the Dashboard page).
  • Press Devices and select your screen. On the right-hand side, enter which playlist you want to display and save device.
  • Everything is set up and ready! Feel free to turn your device off and on again, to verify that the app and the content starts playing automatically on startup.
